Lake Lanier, Georgia
A Lake Lanier homeowner wanted to keep their existing dock while making sure it was in good condition to serve their family for many more years.
Lake Lanier, Georgia
This Lake Lanier homeowner wanted a durable, low-maintenance dock with more room to relax, entertain, and enjoy the water. The result was a custom double-decker aluminum dock with TimberTech PVC decking and a roofline designed specifically for the property.
"After talking with several companies about a new dock, I landed at Marine Specialties. Mac Powell, the dock mgr, was great to work with. Mac really knows docks but if there are any questions, he goes to the source for an answer and gets back with you in a timely manner. MSI docks offer better material and workmanship than the others (imo). Thanks to Mac and all the people at MSI who put this thing together. Awesome!"
The homeowner wanted more than a place to store the boat. They needed a dock that could withstand years of exposure to sun, water, and changing lake conditions while providing comfortable space for everyday lake life.
Marine Specialties designed and built a custom aluminum double-decker dock with a tailored roofline and TimberTech PVC decking. The decking resists moisture, fading, staining, and splintering and never needs to be painted or stained. The upper level created additional space for relaxing and entertaining, while the custom layout made the most of the homeowner’s waterfront.
The homeowner now has a durable, low-maintenance dock built around how they use the lake. The combination of aluminum construction, PVC decking, added upper-level space, and a custom roofline provides long-term value, easier upkeep, and more room to enjoy Lake Lanier for years to come.

This Lake Lanier homeowner needed a lasting solution for a shoreline that was washing away, exposing tree roots, and creating uneven areas that could become fall hazards. Marine Specialties stabilized the bank with hand-placed rip rap and added custom stone steps that improved access while blending naturally into the shoreline.
"Marine Specialties installed rip/rap and new stairs at our Lake Lanier house. Santos, Wilfredo, and Eduardo did a great job clearing the beach of driftwood and neatly arranging the stone. The stone steps to the lake are very nice. Trice took care of the permitting and kept us informed through the entire project. We are very pleased with the completed project and highly recommend the team."
Ongoing wave action had eroded sections of the bank, leaving exposed roots and unstable ground along the water’s edge. The homeowner also wanted a distinctive stone staircase, but needed the project to stay within budget and meet U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requirements.
Marine Specialties managed the project from permitting through installation, handling the Corps of Engineers approval process so the homeowner did not have to navigate it alone.
Our team then sourced stone steps that matched the homeowner’s vision while working within the approved budget. Each step was carefully placed into the shoreline, alongside precision hand-placed rip rap designed to create a strong, tightly fitted erosion-control barrier for Lake Lanier’s demanding wave conditions.
The completed project reinforced the eroding bank, covered exposed roots, and reduced shoreline fall hazards. The custom stone steps created a safer, more comfortable path to the water while giving the shoreline a distinctive, natural look tailored to the homeowner’s property and budget.
