Dock Safety Repairs & Full Redecking
This project combined structural safety repairs with a complete redecking — restoring the dock's frame, securing the shoreline staircase, and replacing every board and sub-structure component from the top landing to the water.

The Challenge
The dock was still the right fit for the homeowner's property, but time on the water had taken its toll. The lower frame on the right shore side had been damaged, the staircase had worked loose at both the top landing and its connection to the dock, and the decking and sub-structure beneath it had aged past the point of spot repairs. Before investing in new decking, the homeowner wanted confirmation that the structure was sound and worth updating — and that the safety issues would be fully resolved, not patched.
Our Solution
The Marine Specialties team started with a full dock inspection and confirmed the frame was worth restoring. Our crew repaired the damaged lower frame on the shore side, then re-secured the staircase — anchoring it at the top landing and tying the bottom directly into the dock frame so it can't shift underfoot. With the structure solid, we removed all of the old decking and sub-structure materials across the entire dock and staircase and installed all-new decking, giving every walking surface a fresh, uniform, secure foundation.
The Result
The homeowner kept the dock they already loved — now structurally sound from the shoreline stairs to the outermost slip, with brand-new decking on every surface. No more soft boards, no more shifting staircase: just a safe, refreshed dock that's ready for many more years of lake days on Lake Lanier.
